BALLETLORENT

balletLORENT is an award-winning, female-led dance theatre company based in North East England. For over 30 years, we’ve created bold, inclusive and emotionally rich performances that bring people together — touring to many of the UK’s most prestigious theatres.

Founded by Liv Lorent MBE in 1993, our mission is to make world-class dance that speaks to diverse audiences of all ages and backgrounds. We tell powerful stories from a female perspective with warmth, beauty and meaning — always aiming to make dance theatre accessible, not elitist.

Our casts reflect the diversity we value, often featuring performers aged 22 to 58, as well as children, older adults and pregnant women, alongside our professional dancers. These intergenerational ensembles bring unique energy to our shows and connect us to the communities we tour to.

In recent years, we’ve collaborated with Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy to reimagine classic fairytales for family audiences — including Rapunzel, Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin, and The Lost Happy Endings.

balletLORENT is a Sadler’s Wells National Partner and a National Portfolio Organisation funded by Arts Council England. We became a registered charity in 2015.
