CHARLTON TOY LIBRARY
Charlton Toy Library is a registered charity based at Langhorne House
What Charlton Toy Library says
Charlton Toy Library is a Registered Charity set up in 1982 by a group of parents and carers who met on a regular basis with their children. They took turns in running it from their own homes.
We have our own dedicated premises at Langhorne House, and are run by a voluntary Management Committee which includes current and former Toy Library members.
Our stay-and-play session for under 5s is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and one Saturday a month (9:30 am – 12:30 pm) during term time only (closed on school holidays). Members can also borrow from a wide range of toys, books and games for 2 weeks at a time for a small fee starting from 50p.
Charlton Toy Library aims to promote the principle that play does matter for the developing child. Our objectives are to:
- Offer a befriending & supportive service to parents and carers.
- Make play available & lend appropriate toys and books to help children learn and develop their creative, social and educational skills.
- Extend the opportunity for shared play into the home.
- Provide play areas where children and adults can use a wide variety of toys and creative activities and to offer an opportunity to socialise and exchange experiences.
