Katie Philpott School of Dance is a place where local children and young people feel inspired to dance, where self-expression is encouraged and having fun is mandatory!
Since September 2000, KPSD has grown into one of West Yorkshire’s leading dance academies, offering multi-genre classes to more than 400 students aged from just 2 years!
We have a wide variety of classes to suit all - ballet, modern, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, street, cheerleading, musical theatre and acrobatic arts.
Our ethos is entirely focussed on creating a friendly, homely, and easy-going environment where every student is nurtured and encouraged to be the best they can be.
Our core aim is to provide safe and welcoming spaces where dance is enjoyed for fun and fitness alongside being a respected ISTD examinations centre.
Highlights of our school year include professionally-produced and staged dance shows and we perform at many community events throughout the year. (It’s always up to each student whether they want to take part or not)
As founder and Principal at KPSD, I am proud to work alongside a wonderful team of dedicated and inspirational dance teachers and that many of our former students have themselves progressed to careers in dance or continued their love of dance through university groups and some even come back to enjoy the fun of our adult classes!
