Baby massage is when a parent or primary carer lovingly strokes or holds their baby. Using a high quality non-fragranced vegetable oil, soothing holds and rhythmic strokes are given on each area of baby’s body, following a sequence that has been developed over many years. The massage offers a wonderful experience and a special time to communicate both verbally and non-verbally with babies, so that they feel loved, valued and respected.

The IAIM baby massage course draws from both the Indian and Swedish massage traditions, as well as incorporating principles from yoga and reflexology.

I’m Kelly Harmsen, mom to a pigeon pair, IAIM-certified infant massage instructor, and passionate advocate for nurturing early connections. My journey into infant massage began in a deeply personal way, after my firstborn underwent major head surgery at just 7 months old. Massage became our healing language, a gentle way to reconnect and soothe the stress we’d both endured. With a background as a newborn and family photographer, experience running a mom & baby franchise in South Africa, and some time working as a nursery key worker in the UK, I’ve always found joy in supporting little ones and their parents. Now based in Walton on Thames, I offer warm, welcoming baby massage classes every Thursday at The Play Cafe in Esher, and I’d love to invite you and your baby to join us.
