Description
Explore the wow-world of colours with this curious little owl who is determined to stay awake to see what day light brings.
From the warm pink glow of dawn through to a day filled with the bright colours of green leaves, blue sky, grey clouds and, finally, a stunning rainbow – ‘WOW!’. But despite the beauty of the daytime world, the little owl decides that the night-time stars are the most beautiful of all.
Age guidance
WOW! Said the Owl is aimed at ages 2-5. Our shows for this age group are lively but gentle, with simple stories and appealing characters. Small children are kept engaged with visual wonders and effective use of music and language.
How will we be seated?
This show has standard seating for our studios. There are rows with chairs and soft blocks facing the stage, and some mats on the floor at the front. There will be up to 70 people watching the show (sometimes more if you come when there are school groups).
Can children join in?
This isn’t an interactive style of show, but we welcome vocal responses from young audiences, and everyone is especially invited to join in with the repeated ‘Wow’s. The audience stay in their seats while watching, but you can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time.
Is there anything that might be scary?
There is only a grumpy, funny grey cloud who eats up the colours. This is soon followed by a happy scene.
Should I bring a child under two?
All ages are welcome at our shows and age ranges can only be a rough guide, but please bear in mind that WOW! Said the Owl was not specially designed for babies and toddlers. A show recommended from under age two would usually have more relaxed seating, smaller audience numbers and strong sensory and interactive elements.
What can I use to prepare my child or help to decide if the show is right for them?
The show is based on the book WOW! Said the Owl by Tim Hopgood. You can buy the book from us here
