Stage 1: Building Communication Through Signs, Song, and Play

Babies naturally use gestures like waving, pointing, and clapping as part of learning to talk. Sing and Sign builds on these early instincts by introducing meaningful signs such as milk, more, change nappy, and tired — helping your baby express their needs before words arrive.

Our Stage 1 classes follow a consistent weekly structure, which babies quickly learn to recognise and respond to with enthusiasm. Each week introduces a new theme and a fresh set of signs, all carefully chosen to reflect your baby’s everyday world.

And at the heart of it all is our magic ingredient — music. Songs make learning signs fun, memorable, and engaging for both babies and grown-ups. Music supports language development, emotional connection, and joyful interaction.

Over the course of the term, you’ll learn more than 150 signs that support your baby’s understanding and expression. Created with input from speech and language therapists, this multi-award-winning programme is the perfect place to have fun, bond, and lay the foundations for confident communication.
