For children from birth to pre-school age, and their parents or carers

We meet every Tuesday morning during school term time from 9:30am to 11:30am.

Where We Meet

Thomas Helwys Baptist Church

When you arrive, look out for a sign directing you to the doorbell — ring it, and one of our friendly volunteers will welcome you and show you around.

Limited parking directly outside the church, additional on-street parking available nearby on Church Street and Maxwell Close.

If you’re coming by bus, any of the Orange Line buses (NCT 34, 35, or 36) will drop you at the Savoy Cinema stop on Derby Road. From there, it’s a short walk down Park Street and Godfrey Lane to the church.

What to Expect

Each week we offer a wide variety of age-appropriate activities for babies through to pre-schoolers, including:

• A dedicated baby area
• Messy play
• Role play and construction
• Crafts and fine motor activities
• Physical development and balance challenges

We plan fresh activities every month to keep things fun and engaging.

At around 10:30am, there is a lively singing session with instruments, scarves, or the parachute. This is followed by snack time for the children, with a variety of healthy options provided. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are available for adults throughout the session.

Who We Are

Tommy’s Tots is run by a team of volunteers from the church and local community. We welcome all families, regardless of belief, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, or gender.

Our goal is to create a fun, inclusive, and supportive space where families can connect and grow together.

Cost

We ask for a small contribution of £1 per family group per session. A family group could include:

• A parent or grandparent with one or more children
• A childminder with multiple children

Your first session is free, so come and try us out!

All funds go toward maintaining our toys, equipment, and the general running of the sessions.

This playgroup does not take bookings, we operate on drop-in only. The church is accessible for prams and push chairs. Please ring the doorbell (look out for the sign pointing to it) to be warmly welcomed.
